There’s nothing I like more than taking a day off, or heading out at the weekend to the beach. I always have this image of the sun shinning, the noise of people enjoying themselves, the smell of suntan lotion and of course the sea.
Then comes the reality. I get there, all the umbrellas are gone, I can’t rent one. I’m lying on the sand with my towel. The towel gets covered in sand, I go for a dip I get covered in sand. I wipe myself off with the towel and now I am covered in more sand! That was then until I finally took the plunge and bought a beach tent. A what you might say.
Chances are you’ve heard of beach tents since you found this page! But what exactly are they?
The norm for a Beach Tents is that is a very simple version of the dome tent. It looks very much like a smaller version of a dome tent. The main aim of this type of tent is to keep you as sand free as possible. So as such this tent could not be used on a camping trip to sleep overnight in. I’ve heard of people who have tried but believe me it’s not a good idea at all!
One of the main reasons I bought my beach tent was to provide me with shelter from the sun. A growing number of these tents, but please do check, contain some sort of UV protection, which can protect you from the sun. However always be sure to check and ask this before purchasing one.
Another great reason to get one of these tents is that it provides a place to store all the bits and pieces you bring on a trip to the beach (again saves them from getting too much sand in them!).
If you buy one of these tents realise that you can’t stand in them, and they probably won’t be long enough to allow you to sleep in them – so your legs will probably hang out of the bottom of them!
Used for what they are these tents provide a great bit of shelter and reduce the amount of sand you take home from beach.
